Ubuntu 6.06 Released!

See the announcement, read the release notes and the official site, then go download the CD ISO! No bandwidth? Order now and they’ll ship it for free. Kubuntu-lovers can also order their icy-blue CD for free.
There are some goodies thrown-in in the last minute (read: days):
- They got an official documentation website.
- They got VM-Ware Player in Ubuntu. You’ll need to enable the multiverse software repository for that.
- Java is also “natively” available as a normal package.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 6 (“Dapper Drake”) from Ubuntu 5 (“Breezy Badger”, which I was already pleased with) and was pleasantly surprised to find that my system is much more responsive than with Breezy. Firefox seems especially snappier. I really like the new GNOME deskbar applet too.
