Dapper to be delayed 6 weeks

March 11, 2006

Mark Shuttleworth proposed to delay Ubuntu 6.04 (Dapper Drake) for six weeks [The original date is 20 April 2006]. Because Dapper would be the first enterprise quality Ubuntu release, he wants to make sure that Dapper is well polished for that. Other reasons includes, better localisation (as a result from the Asia Business Tour), and certifications. Personally, I agree with him. Dapper should be polished. It should be much better than Breezy. Currently, progress is running great.

The problem is: what would happen to the 6 month release cycle? I hope it won’t change and Dapper+1 would be here next October.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the source, Microsoft decided that Vista won’t support EFI. Meaning: Windows Vista won’t boot on Intel Macs. But there is one surprise, XP boots on a Mac Book Pro.
