Quick Link: Computer Scientists Are Not Tech Support

September 26, 2006

Avi Flamholz from The Daily Princetonian wrote I’m a Computer Scientist, Not Your Tech Support:

Maybe she’d ask what kind of computer science major doesn’t know how to fix her computer. After all, isn’t that what computer science is all about?

There is actually no COS class called “Fixing Microsoft Windows and Related Problems.” There’s not even a class called “Fixing People’s Email.” Shocking, I know.

Insightful and funny. It gets even worse when I try to explain people that I don’t use Windows that much anymore.
